Become a Friend of ART

The only way you can effect change at the Toronto Humane Society without the intervention of a statutory, regulatory body, is to become a member of it. ART is an association of THS Members; you can add your voice to this group of active members to help make changes to the way the Toronto Humane Society is run.

Without intervention by a government body having jurisdiction over the THS, only voting members (i.e. those living within a 60 km radius of 11 River Street, Toronto) can have a voice. By being a voting member you can:

1. participate at the Annual General Meeting (by personal attendance or by proxy);
2. participate at General Member Meetings (by personal attendance or by proxy);
3. run for the Board of Directors;
4. review the THS Financial Statements;
5. be entitled to rights available to members of a not-for-profit corporation under the Corporations Act (Ontario).

By becoming a Friend of ART and being a member of the THS, you combine forces to bring about reform at the oldest shelter in Canada committed to animals in its care.

Becoming a Friend of ART is a 2-step process:

• complete the online Application Form below.
• provide a scanned copy of:
  1. your current THS Membership Card if you are a Member,
     OR,
  2. your application to become a Member of the THS,
