Results of Superior Courts ruling on Linda MacKinnon’s application for Intervenor Status in “OSPCA v Toronto Humane Society 2010 ONSC 824” (click here to view).   

Summary of the findings:

  • Linda was granted the right to intervene as a “friend of the court” (but not as an added party, to OSPCA’s application, with full rights of participation). 
  • The judge found that Linda could make a useful contribution for the purpose of rendering assistance to the court by way of argument.
  • Linda has the right to file a statement of facts of no more than 15 pages and to make oral submissions of up to 30 minutes at the hearing of the OSPCA’s application (date TBD)
Jan26/2010 Results of Superior Courts ruling in “OSPCA v Toronto Humane Society 2010 ONSC 608”  (click here to view) granting interim relief pending the hearing of the main application on Wednesday February 10 (see “Upcoming Court Dates” section for more details).   

This interim relief appoints Mr. Bryan Tannenbaum, from Deloitte & Touche, to act as monitor of the business and financial affairs of the THS, and to inquire into and to report on the charity’s financial health.  These results will be provided back to Justice David Brown
